Not only should you have plenty of motor oil stored in your garage, you should also take the time to learn how to change the oil in your car, after all, in event of a disaster there’s a good chance you won’t be able to find a service shop that will be able to do the work on your car. In addition to having a full case of motor oil on hand, you also need to make sure that you have surplus oil filters.
There was a time when everyone used to keep lube grease right in their vehicle and they knew how to use it. These days, it’s difficult to find anyone who even knows what lube grease is, much less how to know it. If you aren’t familiar with lube grease, now is a great time for you to educate yourself. Once you do, you’ll be able to grease all the various fittings on your drive shaft which goes a long way towards keeping your ride in perfect working order.
When disaster strikes, you want to make sure that you can rely on your car. In addition to regularly getting it tuned up, you want to make sure you keep your brake and power steering fluid topped up. It’s also a good idea to have a few extra bottles stored in your garage just in case!

When it comes to cooking, lard is the healthiest and tastiest option, but since it doesn’t keep well, you should keep a few cans of shortening in your pantry which you can use to cook in event of an emergency.
It’s your choice as to whether you stock up on canola or vegetable oil, but since you’ll go through it fast, you’ll want to make sure you have plenty on hand. This is a much needed supply for cooking and you shouldn’t skimp here. Buy multiple gallon sized bottles to add to your food preps!
