There are thousands of options out there when you are shopping for the perfect survival knife. In the past few years, we’ve acquired quite a collection because my husband is a tiny bit obsessed with the survival gear. After taking stock of our collection and browsing his Christmas wish list, here are 7 awesome survival knives that I think you (or your man) will love.
The KA-BAR Utility Knife
The KA-BAR utility knife is a favorite among military and sportsmen alike. It’s highly durable and it was originally designed for the Marines during World War II. Today, it is still the daily work knife for the US military. It has an easy to grip handle and a 7-inch blade with a flat ground edge.
The Cold Steel SRK
Cold Steel is one of the most recognized brands in the knife industry and the SRK is a prime example of their great quality. This is a versatile knife with a 6-inch blade. This knife is part of the Battle Ready Classics Series and it is made for hand-to-hand combat. It would double as a great survival knife with a razor sharp blade that is multifunctional.
The Tom Brown Tracker
If you want a proven survival knife, this is it. Survival expert Tom Brown Jr. designed this knife with the perfect shape for chopping. The 2.5 inch saw back is a great feature that is not common. While this one is a little pricey, it is worth it if you want a knife that will definitely handle even the roughest survival situations.
Becker BK2 Campanion Survival Knife
Whether you are out hunting and want to skin your game or you are chopping onions to cook over the campfire, this knife will do the job. Ethan Becker designed it, drawing from his experiences as a survivalist, mountain climber, and chef. It has a 20-degree blade angle, making it perfect for any outdoor job. It’s really comfortable to use too. The handle is made from Grivory giving you the perfect lightweight grip.
The SOG SEAL Team Survival Knife
The SOG Seal Team knife can hold up through any abuse you give up. It has great edge retention and it will hold up with hammering, prying, cutting, and penetration. The 7-inch blade endured rigorous testing from the U.S. government. Among dozens of knives, this one was the best. If it’s good enough for the SEALS, it’s good enough for me!
The KA-BAR 7 Fighting Utility Knife
This is one of the best knives I’ve ever handled personally. It is tough and durable and the handle is comfortable to grip. It is a great choice for survivalists with a partially serrated edge and a blade made from 1095 Cro-Van steel.
Bushcraft Survival Knife
Bushcraft makes knives that are meant for survival situations. You can use this knife for hunting and it will easily cut through tough tendons and get the job done. The blade is fashioned fro AUS8 grade steel and it has a razor sharp tip. The handle is made to fit comfortably in your hand for an easy grip. Overall, it’s just a well rounded survival knife that is easy to use.
These are just seven of the thousands of survival knives to choose from. Try one or try them all, but take some time to explore the world of knives. It’s not only an important aspect of survivalist life and prepping, but it’s a lot of fun too.
