I love essential oils. I spent a long time thinking about oils and reading about oils. I talked to my friends about essential oils and I thought some more about them. I finally made the dive into essential oils about 2 years ago and I have never looked back. Storage Prepper has several articles about essential oils and all the goodness that they provide and we encourage you to look into those. However there is always a question that I am being asked about the essential oils and it usually has to do with kids. What are the best oils for kids?
I use several different oils in my diffusor and I would strongly encourage all of my readers to do the same thing. My daughter has a pretty serious case of asthma and so it is not uncommon for me to run breath oil for her. In fact I will share the information about this blend in just a moment. I also like to use peppermint, lavender, orange, and grapefruit oils. Lemon oil smells amazing and it has great cleaning power as well. But for the sake of the article let’s focus mainly on the oils that you could use on and with your kids.
Roman chamomile, copaiba, sweet marjoram, Peru balsam, lemon, tangerine, vetiver and lavender are the 8 essential oils that you will find in this blend. The great thing about this blend is that it can really make a huge difference in not only how deep you sleep but how quickly you fall asleep. It has natural ability to relax and to sooth sore or tired muscles. I use this blend myself and it works well. I like to use coconut oil as the carrier and just rub it all over the back of my kids. Works well!
As I shared before my daughter has sever asthma. There are times when the inhaler and even the nebulizer are not working. I have used this oil with those devices and it has worked very well for her. This blend has peppermint, Eucalyptus Radiata, Rosemary, Cedarwood, and Lavender oil.
This is a great oil to use by itself. The smell is amazing. If you have ever had a cedar chest then you know how great the cedar smells. The great thing about this oil is that it promotes relaxation and mental clarity. It works great for kids that are coming home form a long school day.
If your kids are anything like mine then they are always looking to snack. Thankfully my kids have not had to deal with weight issues like their father or me but they still need to slow down on the snacking. With this oil your appetite can be suppressed and hunger staved off.
My kids like to play with other kids. My kids also like to bring home the germs from other kids. In an effort to help them stay healthy we have started using this bend of oil. It has an awesome aroma and it helps promote a healthy immune system. Especially in the winter months, like the ones we are in, it helps to have a leg up on the colds and the flu that might be going around.
This is another oil that has amazing healing properties. It has been used in my house for colds and flu and it has worked very well. I like to rub some on the back of my kids neck before they leave to play or go to a friends house. It smells nice as well. It promotes calmness and it helps boost immune health. A win win.
This oil is great for skin irritations. I like to use this oil for scratches, nicks, weird bumps, hives, and even pimples. It smells great and it works. In a house full of boys I am sure to find someone that has a skinned a knee or arm. Plus I have a daughter that is starting to care more and more about her skin.
These are some of my favorite essential oils that you can safely use for children. What oils do you use most frequently in your family?
